Using big data to improve the workspace
Financial metrics have traditionally been the key drivers of commercial real estate strategy. However, this single focus on the budget may negatively impact the quality of project outcomes and the well-being of its occupants. Leading organizations understand that although a focus on the budget is vital, there must also be equal attention paid to well-designed workspaces and how this improves performance, accelerates innovation and builds a healthy culture.
While financial metrics matters, it is certainly possible to merge it with intelligent, interesting and human-centered interior designs. In other words, veering away from the idea of “how much a space costs” by instead focusing on the more complex determination of “how space can support human capital”, one can make the reasonable argument that good, smart design falls on the positive side of the balance sheet.
